Beta carotene is one of about 700 different plant pigments known as carotenoids present in fruit, vegetables, herbs, and spices. Beta carotene is orange in color and is most notably found carrots. Beta carotene can also be found in apricots, plums, peppers, chilies, pumpkins, and sweet potatoes. Even green leafy vegetables link spinach contain beta carotene.
