What is Nettle Root Extract?
Nettle root extract (Urtica dioica) is taken from an herbaceous perennial plant in the Urticaceae family originally native to Europe, temperate Asia, and the western regions of North America. The leaves and stems have hairs that act like needles, which inject histamine and other chemicals into the skin, producing stinging and contact dermatitis upon contact. Despite this, stinging nettle root extract (Urtica dioica) has been used for hundreds of years for its purported health benefits.
